Lee Hyun-Boc

Hyun Kyung-Rae
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyse characteristics and factors of private health insurers by using the 2008 Korea Health Panel(KHP) data, and the statistical analysis and logistic regression were performed with a total of 19,702 observations. The higher income and educational level, younger, more stable economic activity, or higher health promotion efforts were higher subscription rate of private health insurance. People who have a chronic disease and experience emergency or inpatient service had a lower subscription rate of private health insurance. Multiple subscriptions were not related to private health insurance. Only age, head of household status, and whether outpatient service was experienced were statistically significant variables that affect a subscription rate of the type of indemnity. The type of indemnity has negative effect on the age of fifty and positive effect on the head of household status and outpatient service experience.
